Queen Academy Season 1, Episode 1
My name is Margaret.
My story is simple; I come from a small family of 4. My sister Mia, my mom, dad, and I. We are considered an "unlucky" family by the governments standards. Here, unlucky is just another word for poor....but that is what mother told me, for all I know it could mean something completely different.
It was Friday afternoon Mia and I were silently sitting in a bare field near our house. In a couple minutes we will head for the bus that will take us out of our home town, and to our great-great-great grandmother's school for girls.
I broke the silence,"We should probably leave soon, the bus will arrive in about 25 minutes." I didn't want to leave, but I had no choice, once you receive the letter you are obligated to respond in less than 24 hours. Of course my mom responded without asking Mia or I if we wanted to go or not. She had been waiting for that letter for years.
"25 minutes!?" My sister Mia exclaimed, "No, I don't want to go. I am not going to leave everything behind to go to some fancy rich kid school, I'd rather be here with mum and papa." I had never heard her speak like that before, this seemed to be effecting her more than me.
I had no response to that, I agree with her fully, but I still don't know what to say.
"Don't be upset Mia, we'll be able to write to them, and travel back for the holidays." I tried to sound sympathetic, but I have never been that affectionate.
Mia ran to me and cried. I heard the muffled words of,"do you even care? Won't you miss them too?" I will miss them and that is my biggest problem with going to this school. I just don't want to show weakness to her or the academy......
She sniffled,"I-I am sorry. I shouldn't be that immature. You're right we should go or we'll be late."
She turned around and started walking towards the bus station. Our luggage was sent to the academy 3 days ago so it should be in our dormitories when we arrive. On the way I notice Mia was whispering to herself, I am guessing that she was saying goodbye to our town.
I followed her to the station. And I childishly said goodbye to our old tree, our town's large river, random trees that I'll probably never care about again, and of course our special spot; the field.
